Meet Dr. Craig Taylor, Orthodontist in Cedar Park, TX
Ask Dr. Craig Taylor how he became an orthodontist and the story starts with the Tooth Fairy. He grew up in Mesa, Arizona, and he was thrilled every time he lost a tooth. Teeth turned out to matter more than he expected. Today he leads Cedar Park Smiles. Families come to us from Cedar Park, Leander, Avery Ranch, and northwest Austin for braces, Spark™ Clear Aligners, and early treatment for children. He treats every patient the way he would want his own family treated: unhurried, well informed, and comfortable from the first visit on.
Education and Training
Dr. Taylor earned a Bachelor of Science in Health Science from Arizona State University. He was then accepted to Temple University School of Dentistry in Philadelphia. There he earned his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree.
Dental school is where his path narrowed. He found that working with children was the part of the day he looked forward to most. After graduation he stayed in Philadelphia for a two-year pediatric dental residency.

Training in Both Pediatric Dentistry and Orthodontics
After his pediatric residency, Dr. Taylor moved his family to Texas and began practicing. A few years in, he took a continuing education course and met several specialists who had trained in both pediatric dentistry and orthodontics. That settled it. He applied to orthodontic residencies and packed the family up again. He finished his residency in Las Vegas, then came home to Texas for good.
Few orthodontists in this area have completed residencies in both fields. It matters most in the years when a child’s jaw is still growing. Dr. Taylor reads tooth eruption, jaw growth, and bite development together. That lets him tell a parent whether treatment should start now, or whether it is better to watch and wait.

Beyond the Office
Dr. Taylor and his wife are glad to call Texas home, and family is at the center of their life here. Outside the office he spends time with his wife and children, works on his Spanish on Duolingo, and is teaching himself guitar. He also likes being outdoors and staying active. During dental school he ran the “Rocky” steps in Philadelphia, which he still counts as a highlight.
